Motorcyclist killed after striking deer in roadway
Sunday morning, about 10 o’clock, the operator of a motorcycle died when a deer was struck on Knox County Route A, two miles northwest of Novelty. The accident claimed the life of 45-year-old Aaron Vansickle of Hurdland. Vansickle was using safety equipment and the patrol report indicated the motorcycle was demolished.
Trenton man arrested in Pettis County
The highway patrol reports a 20-year old Trenton resident was arrested early on Sunday Isiah Coon was taken into custody in Pettis County and accused of stealing $750 or more. Coon was taken to the Pettis County Jail.

Drowning victim in Missouri River identifed
A drowning occurred Sunday afternoon in the Missouri River near Wellington. The name of the victim has been withheld until identification was made and next of kin was notified. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department reported the victim is 54-year-old Andrew Fischer of Independence. Authorities say their investigation has determined that no foul play is suspected.
