Man from Hermann airlifted after SUV overturns near Paris, Missouri

In the early hours of March 31, 2024, an accident occurred on Highway 15, approximately six miles south of Paris, Missouri, leading to severe injuries for the driver involved.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2007 Nissan Xterra, driven by 64-year-old Clifford M. Deatsch of Hermann, Missouri, was traveling southbound when it veered off the left side of the road. The SUV struck a driveway, became airborne, and overturned, resulting in the ejection of Deatsch from the vehicle.

Deatsch sustained serious injuries and was not using a seat belt at the time of the accident. Following the crash, he was transported by air to University Hospital in Columbia for immediate medical attention.

The Nissan Xterra suffered total damage and was towed from the scene by A1 Towing of Paris.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Paris Fire Department.

Deatsch was arrested by the patrol and accused of felony driving while intoxicated and driving while revoked.  He was released for medical treatment.
