Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton has released information on ways it is keeping residents from feeling isolated and disconnected during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Friends and family members can friend the Sunnyview Resident Facebook and send a private message to indicate the resident with which they want to connect. The nursing home will invite those individuals to the Sunnyview Resident group, and the friends and family members can post messages they want a resident to see.
Video calls can be done from the Sunnyview Resident group, and Facetime can be done as well. Facebook and Facetime is available Tuesday and Friday from 10 to 11 o’clock in the morning and 2 to 3 o’clock in the afternoon as well as Thursday from 4 to 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Call Sunnyview to schedule a time at 359-5647 or private message the Sunnyview Resident account.
Individuals can call the facility and schedule a time to speak to a resident or visit a resident at the front entrance through the glass, however, visiting through the glass may not work well with residents who are hard of hearing.
Family members and friends can also stop by outside of a resident’s window. Nursing home staff can open a window if persons are made aware ahead of time.
Individuals can also make decorations, cards, or pictures to hang around a resident’s window. Sunnyview can also assign persons to decorate windows of residents that do not have local family.
Sunnyview officials are working to keep numbers low and is limiting in-person visits to family only.
