An early morning accident on Highway 36 near Marceline, Missouri, resulted in moderate injuries for two women when their car crashed and struck a tree on April 27.

At approximately 4:02 a.m., a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Amnah E. Thabet, 20, of Lenexa, Kansas, was traveling westbound when it failed to navigate a curve. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the car then veered off the left side of the road, collided with a road sign, crossed back over to the right side, and subsequently became airborne. Both the driver, Amnah Thabet, and her passenger, Diamond O. Collier, also 20, from Kansas City, Missouri, were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. They were transported to Pershing Memorial Hospital by Linn County Ambulance.

The Volkswagen Jetta sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Precision Auto.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash.
