Late-night crash on Highway MM leaves one driver injured

A collision involving two vehicles occurred late Saturday night, resulting in moderate injuries for one driver. The accident took place on Highway MM, approximately 0.3 miles west of Hannibal, Missouri, at around 11:15 p.m.

Authorities reported that a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, driven by Michelle L. McGruder, 52, of Hannibal, crossed into the opposing lane and collided with a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. McGruder, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital by law enforcement officers.

The driver of the Hyundai, Tamara J. Spurling, 58, also from Hannibal, was wearing her seat belt. Her vehicle suffered total damage, similar to McGruder’s vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Heartland Towing of Hannibal.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Hannibal Police Department responded to the scene of the crash.
