Drowning victim in Missouri River identifed

A drowning occurred Sunday afternoon in the Missouri River near Wellington. The name of the victim has been withheld until identification was made and next of kin was notified. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department reported the victim is 54-year-old Andrew Fischer of Independence. Authorities say their investigation has determined that no foul play is suspected.
