Early morning Highway 139 collision, west of Milan, injures driver and two teenage girls

An early morning collision on Highway 139, approximately 13.5 miles west of Milan, resulted in multiple injuries on Friday, April 26.

The accident involved a 2013 Mack truck traveling west and a northbound 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 7:37 a.m. when the Mack failed to yield and struck the Jeep.

The driver of the Jeep, Layden K Fordyce, 18, from Harris, Missouri, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital by a private party. Two juvenile passengers in the Jeep, girls aged 13 and 16 from Harris, Missouri, both sustained moderate injuries and were also transported to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital by Sullivan County Ambulance.

Edgar Garcia, 34, from Marshall, Missouri, the driver of the Mack, was involved in the crash but no injuries were reported for him at the scene. Both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene by Littrell Family Towing.

All individuals involved were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and Sullivan County Fire and Rescue.
