In the early hours of March 31, 2024, a motor vehicle crash occurred on Highway 36, approximately four miles east of Hamilton, Missouri.

The incident involved a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 21-year-old Jacob Latimer of Polo, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash took place at around 1:45 a.m., when the Volkswagen veered off the north side of the roadway, overturning multiple times. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing northeast off the north side of the westbound lanes of Highway 36.

Jacob Latimer, the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, was ejected during the rollover and subsequently found face down beside the highway. Reports indicate that Latimer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, which resulted in serious injuries. Emergency responders transported him by life flight to Truman Medical Center for care.

The Volkswagen Jetta sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Legacy towing services.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department at the scene of the crash.
