1972 MG Midget overturns in Ray County, injuring driver and juvenile

A serious crash occurred on Route Z near Agnes Street in Ray County at 5:02 p.m. on March 30, 2024, involving a 1972 MG Midget.

The driver, identified as Paul W. Sherrill, 58, of Orrick, Missouri, and a 15-year-old female passenger were both seriously injured when their vehicle left the road, struck an embankment, went airborne, and overturned.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the MG Midget, driven by Sherrill, began skidding and crossed the center line before it crashed. Both Sherrill and the juvenile were ejected from the vehicle during the accident. No safety devices were used at the time of the crash, as both occupants were exempt.

The injured were transported to different hospitals for treatment; the juvenile was airlifted to Children’s Mercy Hospital by Life Flight, while Sherrill was taken to North Kansas City Hospital by Ray County EMS.

The 1972 MG Midget suffered total damage and was towed from the scene by Dorton’s Towing. The report noted that Sherrill did not have insurance for the vehicle.

Emergency responders, including Corporal N.A. Perez, Trooper A.C. Hunolt, and Ray County emergency services assisted at the scene of the crash.
