Ruby Williams obit photoRuby E. Williams, age 85, of Kingston, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at her home in Kingston. Born on March 26, 1939, in Polo, Missouri, Ruby was the daughter of Michael Stewart and Muriel (Stepleton) Vaught. She grew up in Polo, was baptized at the Baptist Church, and graduated from Polo High School in 1957. On October 8, 1963, she married Dean Haight. Later, on February 26, 1980, she married Ronald Williams, who preceded her in death.

In addition to being an exceptional homemaker, Ruby worked at the Polo Grocery Store and Hallmark. She was a devoted member of the Polo Christian Church. She was cherished by her family as a wonderful wife and mother, and renowned for her excellent culinary skills. Ruby’s generous and kind spirit was evident in her willingness to help others. She deeply loved her family, who reciprocated her love. She maintained close contact with her nieces and nephews, demonstrating her role as a loving sister and aunt. Ruby’s strong faith and dignity made her a respected figure in her community, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; siblings, Betty Mott, Mary Doyle, and Bert “Bud” Vaught; and her uncle, Ira Stepleton. She is survived by her children, Pamela Fletchall (Doug) of Winston, MO, Michael Haight of Mooresville, MO, and John Haight of Kingston, MO; grandchildren: Dustin (Malissa) Clark of Winston, MO, Christina (Dwight) Boaz of Winston, MO, David Haight of Richmond, MO, Jordan (Michael) Goodin of Raytown, MO, Dakota Haight of Clearwater, FL, Jesse (Jessica) Fletchall of Grant City, MO, and Amanda Fletchall of Creston, IA; 13 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; sister, Beverly McCartney of Fort Dodge, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Polo Christian Church, c/o the funeral home. A service celebrating Ruby’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Polo Christian Church in Polo. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
