The University of Missouri Extension will offer workshops to help with succession, estate, and retirement planning in January and February.
Farm families, individuals, and businesses may attend the workshops titled “Your Farm, Your Business, Your Future” at Royal Inn Pizza at 750 South Washington Street in Chillicothe Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 o’clock January 24 to February 14.
The class will help farm and small business owners create a plan for transferring a farm or business to the next generation and address issues involved with estate and retirement planning.
Extension specialists will lead discussions on setting goals, assessing strengths and weaknesses of a farm or business, the probate process in Missouri, estate planning tools, and calculating retirement needs.
Participants must preregister for the workshops by January 20.
The cost is $120 per individual and a $60 fee is added for each additional person from the same business.
The cost includes a handbook containing case study examples, forms for planning, developing financial statements, and record keeping, and a light dinner.
