A car crash occurred on Highway 116, one mile east of Plattsburg, late Monday night. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision at approximately 10:48 p.m. on January 29, 2024.

A 2013 Chevrolet Captiva, driven by a 16-year-old girl from Plattsburg, was traveling westbound when it collided with an eastbound 2013 Ford Escape, operated by 28-year-old Gracelynn E. Presley of Overland Park, Kansas. According to Sergeant L. M. Newman, the Ford Escape veered across the center line, initiating the collision with the Chevrolet Captiva.

Following the impact, the Chevrolet Captiva overturned and came to a rest on its wheels facing southeast off the north side of the road. The Ford Escape also went off the north side, overturned, and stopped facing south. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the Captiva being totaled and the Escape experiencing extensive damage. Randy’s Repair towed both vehicles from the scene.

The 16-year-old driver of the Captiva suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Liberty Hospital. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Plattsburg Fire Department assisted at the scene.
