Driver airlifted to hospital following crash south of Perry

A Mexico, Missouri woman was airlifted with moderate injuries following a single-vehicle accident on Highway D, approximately three miles south of Perry, on the afternoon of March 22nd, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Shelbi R. Hamilton, 26, of Mexico, Missouri, was driving a 2002 Toyota Avalon eastbound when her vehicle veered off the left side of the road, collided with a ditch, and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. The incident occurred at around 2:50 p.m.

Hamilton was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. She was transported by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of moderate injuries.

The Toyota Avalon suffered total damage and was towed from the scene by Custom Towing of Hannibal.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, Perry Fire Department, and ambulance districts from Monroe and Ralls Counties.
