An early Wednesday morning, accident occurred on CR 268th Street, just half a mile south of Maryville in Nodaway County, resulting in serious injuries to the driver. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has reported that at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2018 Buick Enclave, driven by Thomas J. Howard, 29, of Parnell, Missouri, was involved in a single-vehicle crash.

According to the Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation, the Buick was traveling eastbound on CR 268th Street when it failed to navigate a T intersection at Jet Road. The vehicle subsequently drove off the east side of the road, became airborne, and collided with a Missouri Department of Transportation sign. The impact force caused the Buick to strike an embankment and begin to overturn, eventually coming to rest on its wheels off the east side of Jet Road, facing north.

Thomas J. Howard, the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. Howard was transported by private vehicle to Mosaic Maryville for treatment. The Buick Enclave suffered total damage and was towed from the scene by Kizer’s towing service.

The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the crash.
