Charles Crabtree Obit PhotoCharles LuVerne Crabtree, 81, of Bethany, MO, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at a St. Joseph, MO, hospital.

He was born on March 11, 1942, to James W. and Helen M. Crabtree in Harrison County, MO.

Charles was a graduate of South Harrison High School. He was a dedicated member of the Bethany Kiwanis Club for 57 years, Bethany Lodge 97 for 53 years, St. Joseph Scottish Rite for 50 years, Bethany Order OES-H23 for 53 years, and Moila Temple Shrine for 50 years. He served many years as president of the Northwest Missouri State Fair Board and was currently serving as secretary. Additionally, he contributed to the Bethany City Council and was an active member of the First Christian Church, serving as an elder. He enjoyed camping, participating in community activities, and dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jimmy, twin sisters Collene and Ilene, and his first wife, Shirley, in 2011.

Charles is survived by a special friend, Joy Michael, and a host of other friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Foster Cemetery, New Hampton, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church and/or the donor’s choice in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
