A Missouri man sustained minor injuries Tuesday night after his car veered off the road in an attempt to avoid a deer on Route C.

At approximately 9:22 p.m. on April 30, 2024, Richard Stinson of Maryville was driving his 2004 Chevrolet Impala northbound when he encountered a deer. In an effort to avoid the animal, Stinson applied brakes and subsequently lost control of the vehicle. The car traveled off the east side of the roadway, striking an embankment and coming to rest facing northeast.

Stinson, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, suffered minor injuries and was transported by Andrew County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.

The vehicle sustained minor damage and was secured on the roadside.
