Crash on Highway 36 west of Hamilton injures one

On October 23, 2023, a collision occurred involving a 2018 Ford F150 and a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse at the intersection of westbound Highway 36 and Business 36, one mile west of Hamilton, Missouri. The accident, which took place at approximately 11:10 a.m., resulted in serious injuries and significant damage to both vehicles.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when Danielle L. Dunning, 29, of Maysville, Missouri, was driving her Ford F150 northbound and failed to stop at a stop sign. She drove into the path of the westbound Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Kaytee D. Smith, 33, of Hamilton, Missouri. The Ford came to rest facing northwest, beyond the intersection, while the Chevrolet ended up facing north on the southbound shoulder of Business 36.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident. Dunning sustained serious injuries and was transported by HCA Ambulance to Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri, for treatment. 

The vehicles suffered total damage and were towed from the scene by Legacy Tow to their lot in Kidder, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Trooper T.N. Garton and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.
