Two arrested by patrol charged with multiple offenses

Two men arrested in area counties by the Highway Patrol have been charged.

Thirty-five-year-old Edward Lee Cates of Bethany was arrested in Harrison County the evening of June 8th. Online court information shows he faces felony possession of a controlled substance as well as misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license—first offense and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Cates also faces an infraction of failing to display plates on a motor vehicle or trailer. Bond was set at $15,000 cash only.

The Patrol arrested 23-year-old Daniel Kelchner of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in Caldwell County the morning of June 9th. He has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5,000 cash only. Kelchner is scheduled for a bond appearance hearing on June 10th.
