Trenton now hiring new Assistant City Clerk

Resumes are being accepted for a new position in the city of Trenton.

Advertisements are being made for a full-time Assistant City Clerk position. Officials have indicated that the plan is for an assistant to train alongside longtime City Clerk Cindy Simpson, who is planning on retiring.

The Assistant City Clerk’s responsibilities include managing the city’s accounting and financial systems, maintaining full and accurate accounting records, handling payroll for city and utility employees, and all payroll reports. The City Clerk’s duties encompass preparation of council agendas and packets, attending council meetings, writing the council meeting minutes, preserving a record of actions taken by the council, maintenance of official municipal records and documents, and providing administrative support to the Mayor, Council, and Administrator.

The assistant’s salary will be based on experience and education. Those interested are to submit a cover letter, resume, salary history, and at least three references. The documents are to be sent to City Hall at 1100 Main Street in Trenton.
