In a collision that occurred on Highway 61 at the edge of New London, Missouri, two individuals sustained injuries Monday evening. The accident involved a 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross and a 1998 Chevrolet 3500, happening at the intersection of Highway 61 and West First Street around 9:27 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Toyota, driven by 65-year-old Bryan D. Sink of Cedar Falls, Iowa, was traveling north on Highway 61. At the same time, the Chevrolet, operated by 92-year-old Charles H. Day of Troy, Missouri, was making a left turn onto Highway 61 from West First Street, leading to the collision with the Toyota’s trailer.
A 16-year-old juvenile from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a passenger in the Toyota, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital by the Ralls County Ambulance. Bryan D. Sink sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at the same hospital. Both were reported to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Charles H. Day, the Chevrolet driver, was unharmed. His vehicle sustained minor damage but was able to be driven from the scene, whereas the Toyota suffered total damage and had to be towed.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, New London Police Department, Ralls County Ambulance, and New London Fire Department at the accident scene.
