Big rig crashes west of New London on Highway 61 injuring driver

In the early hours of Tuesday, a severe accident occurred on Route A, approximately 2 miles west of Highway 61, west of New London, Missouri.

The incident involved a 2006 Freightliner driven by Delbert L. Pieschke, a 69-year-old man from Clear Lake, South Dakota. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the truck veered off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned, coming to rest in the roadway.

The driver, who was using a seat belt at the time of the accident, suffered moderate injuries. He was transported by Ralls County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.

The big rig sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Robert’s Garage in New London.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, Ralls County Ambulance, and New London Fire Department, responded to the incident.
