Students from Milan, Marceline, and Maysville High Schools received gold ratings on Saturday at the state music festival in Columbia.
The honorees included soloists Adan Callejo Armendariz of Milan on soprano clarinet, Matthew Rollinson of Marceline on keyboard mallet, James Kochenderfer of Maysville on trumpet, and Jocelyn Kirou of Maysville for a contra clarinet solo.
The festival featured a competitive field with 358 schools from around Missouri participating in the judging of solo and small ensemble performances. Students from area schools delivered performances on Thursday with results at this link, while others took the stage on Friday, with results at this link.
