On Sunday, April 28, 2024, the Chillicothe Police Department answered a total of 41 calls for service. Throughout the day, officers also conducted several traffic stops, and business checks, served papers, checked vehicles, and followed up on numerous investigations.

01:07 AM – Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Locust Street following reports of multiple individuals involved in a disturbance. It was determined the altercation was merely verbal. Once the owner of the establishment contacted the police, the involved parties vacated the premises without further incidents.

03:19 AM – A response was required at Hwy 36 near the Blackwell Creek Bridge for a stranded motorist who had slid off the roadway due to adverse weather conditions. Officers facilitated the arrival of tow services and managed traffic control while the vehicle was retrieved from the median.

05:11 AM – In the 600 block of Business 36, officers assisted another stranded motorist whose vehicle was leaking fuel into a parking lot. Tow services were arranged and guidance was provided for necessary vehicle repairs.

12:31 PM – Officers investigated a report of gunshots in the 1000 block of Graves Street. Upon inspection, the noise was identified as an engine backfiring from a vehicle in the parking area.

01:10 PM – A reported gas leak in the 200 block of Cherry Street summoned officers to the scene. The source was promptly located, and the Chillicothe Fire Department, along with EMS, was contacted to manage the leak and assess any potential medical concerns among the residents. The gas was shut off, resolving the issue with no injuries reported.
