A Mercer teen has pleaded guilty to felony charges stemming from an accident last year that claimed the life of a Lineville resident.

Court information indicates 17-year-old Elijah Mandich entered a plea of guilty in Mercer County to first-degree involuntary manslaughter and damage to jail property.  Mandich was remanded to the custody of the Mercer County Sheriff and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 10, at 9 am. Mandich previously pled not guilty to the manslaughter charge in June.

A probable cause statement accused Mandich of driving a pickup truck south at an excessive speed in the northbound lane of U. S. Highway 65 in a no passing zone north of Princeton before an accident October 8th.

The Highway Patrol also accused Mandich of using a cell phone while operating the pickup. A Patrol crash report stated 18-year-old Saige Boswell was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
