Congressman Sam Graves announced securing $5,220,000 for the reconstruction of Cameron Memorial Airport’s runway in the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill, which was signed into law last month.

“Our rural airports are incredibly important to North Missouri,” Rep. Sam Graves stated. “Cameron Memorial Airport serves as a vital economic driver for the region, supporting various activities such as flight training, aerial agricultural spraying, and recreational flying. The extensive durability cracking on the airport’s sole runway necessitates its replacement to ensure continued operations into the future. I’m thrilled to have secured this funding to maintain Cameron’s airport operational for years to come.”

Cameron Mayor Becky Curtis commented, “The City of Cameron and I personally express our gratitude to Congressman Graves for his significant and generous contribution of $5.22 million to this year’s appropriations bill for the Cameron Municipal Airport runway replacement. This project is crucial for our community and Northern Missouri. We anticipate further serving the aviation needs of rural Northwest Missouri.”

The reconstruction of Runway 17-35 at the Cameron Memorial Airport will enhance aviation safety. The current runway surface deterioration poses a future safety hazard.
