Pedestrian seriously injured on Route OO near Milan

A collision occurred on Route OO, three miles north of Milan, at approximately 1:18 p.m. on April 21, 2024, involving a 2011 Ford Expedition and a pedestrian, resulting in serious injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the pedestrian, identified as Mary E. Baugher, 63, of Milan, Missouri, was seriously injured after she exited a parked vehicle and walked into the path of the northbound Ford Expedition, driven by 18-year-old Johnathon M. Stanton, also from Milan, Missouri. Baugher was transported by Sullivan County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment, she was later airlifted to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

The Ford Expedition incurred minor damage and was towed from the scene by Littrell’s Towing. Stanton, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, did not sustain any injuries.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and Milan First Responders also assisted at the scene.

Baugher was pronounced deceased by Doctor Dev shortly before 1 am on Monday, April 22nd
