Pastor Lori Kiehl of Trenton First Christian Church spoke about the Trenton Christian School during the meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club on April 18. Classes are set to commence at the church on August 20 and conclude on May 16.

Pastor Kiehl mentioned that a needs assessment garnered over 270 responses. The church plans to cap the inaugural year’s class at 40 students in kindergarten and first grade. These classes will utilize the Sunday School rooms at First Christian Church and will convene five days a week.

The school will not provide transportation or lunch services. Students are expected to bring a sack lunch.

All instructors will possess a state-certified teaching certificate. The school aims to meet the standards for Missouri non-public school accreditation and will use a curriculum provided by Accelerated Christian Education.

Students will undergo a pretest to establish their starting point in the curriculum. They will also be evaluated using the Iowa Basic Standard at the academic year’s end to assess if they meet the expected grade level.

Tuition is set at $152.50 per week per student for 32 weeks, totaling $4,880. The cost of the curriculum per student is $360.

Applications are available on the Trenton First Christian Church website or in the Trenton First Christian Church office. An assessment for children is part of the application process. The church will follow up with parents after reviewing the applications. Applications must be accompanied by a $100 non-refundable deposit, payable to FCC with “school deposit” noted on the memo line. Deposits can be mailed to Post Office Box 418, Trenton, Missouri 64683.

The church is currently seeking school board members, teachers, an administrator, and volunteers. Applications can be submitted via the Trenton First Christian Church website.
