One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash last night five miles east of Milan.

Seventy-one-year-old Kenneth Morris of Milan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Deputy Coroner, Robert Wyant.  The accident also left a Kirksville man, 35-year-old Fiston Muenyi, with minor injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Morris was westbound but in the eastbound lane of Highway 6 when the crash occurred with the oncoming car from Kirksville.  The crash at 9:20 last night demolished both vehicles and it was noted in the report that both drivers were using seat belts.

Assistance was provided by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, Sullivan County Ambulance and the Milan, and Green City fire departments.

Kenneth Morris is the first traffic fatality this year in Sullivan County investigated by the highway patrol.
