Missouri Day Festival kicks off Thursday, October 18th with opening ceremonies

The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Missouri Day Festival begins with a soup supper and open ceremonies Thursday evening, October 18, 2018.

The supper will be at the First Baptist Church of Trenton from 5 to 7 o’clock with opening ceremonies to follow at 7 o’clock.

Winners of the yard and porch, pumpkin, and window decorating contests will be announced during the opening ceremonies. Parade Grand Marshal Doctor John Holcomb will also be recognized.

Vendors for the Missouri Day Festival open for business at Noon Friday and remain open until 8 o’clock Friday night.

A quilt show at Wesley United Methodist Church is from 5 to 8 o’clock Friday evening. Registration for a baby show at the Pavilion show ring starts at 5:30, and the show begins at 6 o’clock. There will also be a country dance at the North 65 Center featuring the Silverado Band. Doors open at 6 o’clock, and the dance goes from 7 to 10 o’clock.

The Missouri Day Festival continues on Saturday with a parade, band competition, and other activities.

The annual parade starts at Crowder and Main at 8:30 Saturday morning and will include school bands competing in the Trenton Marching Festival. The marching festival will continue with auxiliary and drum line events in the Trenton High School gym starting mid-morning. Admission is free for the events in the gym.

There will be a field show competition at C. F. Russell Stadium beginning at 12:30 Saturday afternoon. Gates at the stadium will open shortly before the first field band. Admission for the field show competition is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children in sixth grade or older, and free for children younger than sixth grade.

An antique tractor show will be at the Orscheln parking lot following the parade and vendors will open for business from 9 o’clock Saturday morning until 8 o’clock Saturday night.

A quilt show will be at Wesley United Methodist Church from 11 to 5 o’clock. An Ultimate Full Auto Experience at the Black Silo Winery starts at 11 o’clock and 1:30. The Grundy County Museum is also open from 1:30 to 4:30.

The final day for this year’s Missouri Day Festival in Trenton is Sunday with a car show scheduled at the Elks Lodge from 9 o’clock Sunday morning until 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon.

Vendors will be open for business from 10 until 3 o’clock and Mic-O-Say Dancers will perform at the west walkway at the fairgrounds at 1 o’clock. A quilt show will be at Wesley United Methodist Church from 1 to 4 o’clock.

The Grundy County Museum will also be open from 1:30 to 4:30.
