John David Horn Sr., 57, of Chillicothe, MO, passed away in Chicago, IL, on March 26, 2024. He was born on April 26, 1966, in Richland, VA, to Herman Arthur Horn and Katherine Louise Wilson Horn. John married Retta Darr on January 30, 2016, in Chillicothe, MO.
John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, playing cards, working around the house, gardening, barbecuing, and spending time with his family. He attended Upper Room Ministries and worked as an over-the-road driver for Brotherton Trucking, bringing many years of experience to his profession.
He is survived by his wife, Retta; two sons, Benjamin Nelson Horn and his wife, Katrina, of Germany, and John Horn Jr. and Melody Carden of Maryland; two daughters, Tamra Smith and her husband, Josh, of Omaha, NE, and Rose Horn of Chillicothe, MO. He also leaves behind five brothers, Douglas Horn of VA, Robert Horn and his wife, Elizabeth, of Silver Springs, MD, Stephen Horn and his wife, Rita, of Mays, IN, Samuel Horn of VA, and Jackson Horn of VA; three sisters, Pat Horn of VA, Janet Collins and her husband, Greg, of Pilgrim Knob, VA, and Tamula Talbert and her husband, Christian, of Nineveh, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pamela Horn.
Memorials may be directed to Heritage Funeral Home for the family. Services for John Horn Sr. will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, with a visitation period from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chillicothe, MO.
