A community fireworks display to observe Independence Day will be held in Trenton the night of July 3rd.

Pyrotechnician Brian Coursey of Galt will shoot off the fireworks in the grassy area north of the Rock Barn at dusk.

A volunteer committee made up of community members is organizing the event and helping to collect donations to pay the $4,000 for the display. Past contributors are being contacted and the public is encouraged to donate. Donations can be dropped off at the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce Office at 611 East Ninth Street or mailed to the Chamber at Post Office Box 233, Trenton, Missouri 64683.

The Chamber is serving as a collection point for the funds, but it is not sponsoring the fireworks display. Donations can also be left at the Republican-Times newspaper office in Trenton or with any member of the fireworks committee: Diane Lowrey, Rosetta Marsh, Joe Brinser, Glen Briggs, and Joy Wright.

Checks should be made out to the Chamber of Commerce, and “Fireworks” should be written on the memo line. Contact Diane Lowrey at the Republican-Times for more information.
