Two Albany residents and a Union Star resident sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident four miles north of Saint Joseph Wednesday morning.

The Highway Patrol reports emergency medical services transported 48-year-old Cindee and 14-year-old William Haynie of Albany to Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph. Cindee’s injuries were listed as moderate and William’s as minor. A private vehicle transported 31-year-old Ashley Young of Union Star to Mosaic Life Care with minor injuries.

The sports utility vehicle driven by Young had stopped in traffic in the southbound lane of Highway 169. The southbound car driven by Cindee Haynie swerved toward the northbound lane in an attempt to avoid striking the SUV, but the car hit the rear corner of the SUV. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane of U. S. 169 facing west.

The car was totaled, the SUV received moderate damage and all occupants involved in the crash wore seat belts.

The Andrew County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the crash.
