Trenton firefighters responded to the River of Life Church at 1900 Hillcrest on Sunday morning.
The fire had been extinguished before firefighters arrived and no damage was reported. Firefighters ventilated the kitchen area to remove smoke. Gary Pauley, on behalf of the church, told KTTN that no food was being cooked on the stove. He stated they smelled a small pocket of gas, and upon checking the stove, Pauley stated it ignited burning the knobs a bit.
No injuries were reported and firefighters were on the scene briefly at mid-morning.
