Newtown teen hurt in accident near Ravanna

A Newton resident was hurt when the pickup truck he was driving skidded into the path of another pickup, was hit, and then went off the road, through a ditch, and struck a tree.

17-year-old Damion Goodman of Newton was taken to Wayne County Hospital at Corydon, Iowa with minor injuries.

The driver of the other pickup truck, 41-year old Michael Burton of Mercer, was not reported hurt.

The accident happened Tuesday morning on Route W north of Ravanna. Goodman was northbound, Burton was traveling south.

The pickup driven by Goodman went off the right side of the pavement, returned to the road and skidded into the path of the pickup operated by Burton. After the impact, the truck driven by Goodman went off the road, through a ditch, and hit a tree.

The pickup operated by Burton came to rest partially on the road. Both vehicles were demolished. Burton was wearing a seat belt, Goodman was not.
