Crash on Route W near Lathrop sends two to hospital

A collision on Route W, approximately 5 miles southwest of Lathrop, resulted in injuries on Monday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 11:11 a.m. when a northbound 2015 Ford F150 lost control in a curve and crossed into the southbound lane, colliding with a 2024 RAM 3500.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Casey Stawarz, 58, of Ottawa, Illinois, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Tri-County EMS to Liberty Hospital. The RAM 3500, driven by Bryce W. Mitchell, 38, from Lathrop, Missouri, was not wearing a seat belt and also suffered moderate injuries. He was taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Sam’s Towing Service. The accident forced both vehicles off the west side of the roadway into a ditch, where they came to rest facing south.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
