The Grundy County Commission approved a health insurance plan and held preconstruction meetings about bridges on December 12th.

The health insurance plan next year will be through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. There will be a nine percent increase in price.

If the county had stayed with Allied, there would have been a 150% increase in price.

The health insurance deductible will stay the same.

The preconstruction meetings involved contractors Weidel and C and C Contracting. They also involved the bridge consultant, the Howe Company, and the Missouri Department of Transportation to make sure the plans met federal requirements.

C and C will do work on the bridge on Northwest 110th Street in Washington Township for $388,527. The bridge was closed on December 12th and is expected to reopen in February.

Weidel will do work on a bridge on Northeast 122nd Street in the Myers Township for $896,172.25. That work is expected to start in February and end in May.

Bridge project costs will be covered partly by federal funds. The county match will be covered by American Rescue Plan Act funds. There is an estimated 12% local match.
