Unemployment rates remain fairly steady in northern Missouri

Grundy County’s latest unemployment rate changed only slightly from the January figure. Statistics from the Division of Employment Security show Grundy County has 174 unemployed out of a civilian labor force of 4,400.  That’s a percentage of three-point-nine percent for February (the latest month available).

In January, Grundy County had a rate of four percent, also with 174 unemployed, in February of 2018, Grundy County’s rate was three point six percent.

Linn County continues to have the highest unemployment rate among northwest Missouri counties. The February figure is five point eight percent.

Statewide, the jobless rate for February was three point two percent.

Most area counties, besides Linn and Grundy, with rates above the state average include Harrison 4.7%, Mercer 4.6%, Daviess 4.5%, Sullivan 4.3%, Putnam 4.2%, Carroll 4.0%, Caldwell and DeKalb 3.9%, Clinton and Chariton 3.6%, with Livingston County equalling the state average of 3.2%.
