On Thursday night, a Chillicothe Police Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of South Washington Street for defective lighting and knowledge that the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license. The investigation ended with the arrest of the driver for alleged possession of drugs and a weapon as well as the issuance of a citation to another person for alleged disorderly conduct.

Police said when the officer made the stop, the driver allegedly refused to exit the vehicle after being told to do so. Assistant Chief Rick Sampsel reported officers forcibly removed the individual after breaking the window in the driver’s door. That person was taken into custody.

A Livingston County deputy and K-9 assisted at the scene and discovered within the vehicle; narcotics, paraphernalia and a firearm that was reported as stolen in Carroll County.

The suspect, whose name was not released in the police report overnight, was processed at the police station and taken to the Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail in lieu of charges alleging drug possession, weapon possession, a driving charge along with resisting arrest.

Sampsel also noted a female relative of the driver had arrived at the scene at the time of the arrest and allegedly created a loud and profane disturbance which culminated in her arrest for disorderly conduct. After processing at the police department, she was issued a citation and released.
