North Central Missouri College Criminal Justice Instructor Jenna Vandel spoke at the Trenton Rotary Club meeting on January 6th. She told about her experiences working in the state prison system before becoming a teacher.

Vandel was a drug counselor and worked with individuals who were getting ready to be released from the system. She helped them get ready for “life outside.”

She related two stories about individuals she helped, which she noted yielded different results.

Vandel said her time working in the prison system is what led her to her current role as a teacher for those who want to work in criminal justice.

During the business meeting, Scott Sharp was inducted as a new member. He also was presented with Paul Harris Fellow recognition, keeping with the club’s efforts to be a 100% Paul Harris Club. Sharp is the executive director of the North Central Missouri Development Alliance.

President Brian Upton announced that on May 30th and 31st, District 6040 will match member donations of $100 or more to the Rotary Foundation.

It was also announced that the next Community Food Pantry distribution would be on January 13th. Club members were encouraged to help, if available.
