The Maples Repertory Theater from Macon will hold a Youth Theater Workshop at North Mercer R-3 School next month.

Workshops for the play Musicville will be the week of July 10th through 14th.

School bookkeeper Jennifer Wilson explains that all Mercer County students ages 7 to 18 may participate.

Participants will come in and work with members of the Maples Repertory Theater each weekday, and a performance will be held that Friday evening.

Wilson says Musicville takes the audience on an adventure with Maiden Melody and Radical Rhythm as they try to save their town from the Sorcerer of Silence.

The characters pass through the Desert of Doowop, the Ocean of Opera, and the Terrible Terrain of Tango on their way to the Castle of Composition.

Wilson tells that the Maples Repertory Theater goes to different towns every summer performing different plays.

She adds that the workshop is funded by a grant from the Mercer County Recreation Board.

Mercer Beta Sigma Phi and Princeton PEO Chapters will provide transportation and cookies for the children every day.

Wilson says students should be preregistered by July 5 and you may call 660-748-5472 or 660-382-4214 to preregister.
