The North Mercer R-3 Board of Education approved of a photographer and the 2016-2017 audit at its meeting Monday evening.

Ally Lashae Photography will take pictures at Barnwarming, Homecoming, and Prom.

It was reported the district had a good operating year and is financially stable.

The board also employed a paraprofessional who will begin services in the next few weeks.

The board was informed that the North Central Missouri After School Cooperative received the 21st Century Grant. The five-year renewable grant is for $399,000 per year. The grant is to be used for a before and after school program focusing on science, technology, engineering, and math. North Mercer serves as the fiscal agent.

Seventh through ninth grade math instructor Kim Palmer will serve as the grant coordinator. Schools involved include Ridgeway, Cainsville, Newtown-Harris, and Gilman City.

The insurance renewal included a five percent increase. The costs per employee will be $495 per month with the district paying 100% of the costs.

The board set graduation for the afternoon of May 6th at 2 o’clock.

There will be no school Friday due to the death of a student.
