Princeton Board of Education approves multiple donations

The Princeton R-5 Board of Education approved the acceptance of three donations to the district Monday evening.

The Princeton Alumni Association donated $50,000 to be utilized for the completion of a six-lane all-weather track on campus.

Jeania Donelson and family donated $14,000 to be used to purchase equipment for the new weight room, which will be used daily by students and will be available for the community with a membership after school hours.

Gary and Kathy Thompson donated a new John Deere Gator to be used to assist with transporting individuals who have difficulty walking long distances from the parking lot to school events as well as to transport equipment at school sporting and music events.

The board approved the addition of an online payment option for school lunch accounts. The school will work to integrate the process with the Lumen Portal already available to parents.

Agriculture teacher Bryan Williams discussed the grant recently approved to pay 50% of the cost of a utility tractor for the FFA farm. The board approved the purchase of a new utility tractor utilizing the grant amount. The estimated purchase price is $48,000.

The board also approved the 2017-2018 school bus routes and transportation handbook.

It was announced that demolition of the Stacy addition was completed. The school anticipates footings to be poured within the next 10 to 15 days at the elementary and Stacy locations. The student parking lot west of the Stacy will have curbs installed this week as well.

The board then entered into a closed session.
