Highway 63 rollover crash results in serious injuries for Kirksville woman

An accident occurred on Highway 63, approximately two miles north of LaPlata, Missouri, on the evening of March 24, 2024. Wendy S. Ward, a 53-year-old woman from Kirksville, Missouri, was seriously injured in the crash, which involved a single vehicle, a 2013 Ford Escape.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Ford Escape was traveling northbound when it veered off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle subsequently struck a ditch and overturned. The incident was reported at approximately 8:01 p.m.

Ward was using a seat belt at the time of the accident, but sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by Corporal Haley, Corporal Porter, Trooper Wood, the Adair County Sheriff’s Department, the Adair County Fire Department, and the Adair County Ambulance District, responded to the scene.

The Ford Escape suffered extensive damage and was towed by Lakeside Towing.
