Green Hills sees improvement in drought conditions this week

Drought conditions have seen a slight improvement in the Green Hills region compared to last week, as indicated by the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map released on Thursday morning, April 11. The data reflects conditions up to Tuesday morning, April 9.

Linn County no longer experiences moderate drought, but most of the area remains abnormally dry.

In other parts of Green Hills, the situation remains largely unchanged from the previous week. Moderate drought persists across most of Harrison County and northwest Daviess County. Additionally, most of Caldwell and Grundy counties, as well as northwest and southeast Livingston County, northern and western Mercer County, northern Putnam County, and parts of western and southeast Sullivan County, continue to experience abnormally dry conditions.

In Northeast Missouri, areas previously affected by moderate drought are now classified as abnormally dry. The northwestern, western, and central parts of the state report similar conditions to last week, with both moderate drought and abnormally dry conditions. Meanwhile, Eastern Missouri shows a reduction in moderate drought and abnormally dry conditions. Conversely, Southern Missouri has seen an increase in both severe and moderate drought, along with more widespread abnormally dry conditions.

Statewide, 67.73% of Missouri is affected by abnormally dry or drought conditions, marking a decrease of 1.18% from the previous week.

As of Thursday morning, April 11, Trenton has received 1.96 inches less precipitation than the average for this time of year. During the week ending Tuesday, April 9, Trenton recorded a rainfall total of 0.27 inches.
