The Highway Patrol reports the arrest of a Kansas City, Missouri man in Linn County Wednesday afternoon on several allegations. Twenty-four-year-old Hunter Mueller was accused of felony possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams of marijuana—amphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deer stand fire kills Carrollton man
A 71-year-old man died Saturday from getting burned in a deer stand that caught on fire near Carrollton. The deer stand was about four feet off the ground. The state Public Safety Department says the fire is considered accidental and involved the man using a camping-style propane heater. The victim’s identity is unknown.
Portion of Mercer County placed under boil order
Mercer County Public Water Supply District Number 1 has issued a precautionary boil order due to completed repairs on a water line north and west of Modena. The boil order affects customers on Iceberg Street and will expire Friday evening at 5 o’clock.

Putnam County Route 129 to close for work
Route 129 will close for a culvert replacement Thursday. Local maintenance crews from Missouri Department of Transportation will close the road between the Iowa state line and Ash Trail on Thursday, Nov. 15, between 8 a.m. and noon, weather permitting. During this closure, motorists will need to use an alternate route.
