In an incident on Highway 6, approximately two miles west of Humphreys, Missouri, a man was transported to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital following a truck accident. The accident, which occurred at 3:55 p.m. on March 21, 2024, involved a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia that veered off the roadway, overturned, struck a fence, and eventually came to a halt within the roadway itself.

The driver, identified as Abeya D. Geleta, 39, of Kansas City, Missouri, sustained minor injuries in the accident. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Geleta was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The damaged truck was towed from the scene by Brotherton’s towing service.

Both lanes of Highway 6 were blocked by the overturned eighteen-wheeler, at the Grundy/Sullivan County line, for approximately one hour before one lane opened to traffic. The second lane of traffic required a couple of hours to clear the wrecked truck.

The incident report also notes the involvement of several local agencies, including the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, and Galt Fire and Rescue, which assisted at the scene of the crash.
