A resurfacing project on two lettered routes is scheduled to begin soon. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Herzog Contracting Corp. to complete the resurfacing of Grundy County Route Z from Route 6 to Route 65 and Daviess/Caldwell County Route J from Route 6 in Altamont to U.S. Route 36.

The contractor plans to begin paving Route J on Friday, March 27, 2020. Flaggers and a pilot car will be used to direct motorists around the lane closure. During this portion of the project, one lane of U.S. Route 36 at Route J may also be closed. Work on Route J is expected to take approximately one week to complete. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project.

After Route J is paved, crews will close Route Z to through traffic for paving. That work is expected to begin Friday, April 3 and continue through Tuesday, April 7. The roadway will be closed between county roads. Depending on how work is progressing, the closures could occur Saturday and Sunday as well.

Following the two paving operations, crews will stripe both routes. All work is expected to be complete by April 9, weather permitting.

Crews will be on-site and the work zone will be active on during daylight hours Monday through Friday, March 27 through April 9. Some work may occur on Saturdays, if necessary, to complete the project on schedule.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
