Three killed in weekend hunting accidents during opening of deer season

Three deaths reported as hunting accidents in Missouri over the weekend are under investigation with one fatal incident near Atlanta.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rifle that allegedly fired accidentally and killed an Illinois hunter Sunday afternoon. A news release reports 70-year-old Charles Bark and other hunters were preparing to go hunting with a rifle discharged by another hunter.

Another death reported as a hunting accident involves an incident near Lewistown. Fifty-two-year-old Randell Reising was killed by a hunting friend at a cabin while getting ready to go hunting.

A Willard High School coach in southwest Missouri was also killed in a hunting accident. Twenty-four-year-old Justin Atchison was killed while hunting near Cave Spring in Green County.
