A sidewalk improvement project is scheduled to begin Monday, March 11, in Ludlow. The project, aimed at ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), is funded in part through the Transportation Alternatives Program. Sidewalks are also to be improved in Chula and Wheeling.

BRS Construction, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, plans to complete the project in the three towns by May.

The planned project schedule, according to MoDOT, includes Ludlow along Highways D and DD beginning next Monday. Crews plan to start at the south end of Highway D, working northward on the west side of the road. Once complete, crews will begin work on Highway DD, working west on the north side of the road. This work is expected to be complete by early April. Projections indicate the next phase for sidewalk improvements will be along Highway B in Wheeling from April 1 until May 10. Then, the project moves to sidewalks along Highway K in Chula from April 29 through May 3.

Some lane closures will be necessary when sidewalk work is done in Ludlow, Wheeling, and Chula. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and follow all traffic control, flaggers, signs, and barricades. All vehicles and personal property will need to be removed from work areas prior to the start of construction. All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
