One injured in two-vehicle crash on Highway 124

The Highway Patrol reports a Steeleville, Illinois woman sustained minor injuries when the sports utility vehicle in which she was a passenger was struck by another SUV driven by a Linneus woman in Boone County on Wednesday night.

An ambulance transported 71-year-old Mary Waltemate to University Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of that SUV, 39-year-old Lukas Romine of Centralia, and 37-year-old Angela Murrell of Linneus were not reported injured.

Romine’s SUV entered Highway 63 from the median crossover at Highway 124 west and was struck by Murrell’s SUV. Romine’s SUV ran off the right side of the road and came to rest in the ditch while Murrell’s SUV came to rest between the driving and passing lanes of U. S. 63.

Both vehicles were described as totaled with the drivers and Waltemate all wearing seat belts.
